Fulfillment Fest Freedom Tour, Washington, DC

Right after work on March 25, I drove to the National Mall looking for the Freedom Tour tent. Miraculously, I spotted the tent as soon as I turned towards Independence Avenue. It was a bright, sunny day, but unseasonably cold even for the end of March. I found a parking space nearby, and set out to find some people I expected to be there. I saw a dear friend from Israel and headed towards the park bench to bid him greeting. I ran into another friend on the way that’s always getting me involved in events concerning Israel. The tent was manned from 8:00am until 10:00pm with representatives from Freedom Tour USA and The Prayer Furnace in Fredericksburg, VA. People came from Israel, Virginia, Maryland, Washington, DC, Pennsylvania, and North Carolina. They came with their spouses and children; teenagers and young adults also came. Many stayed all day and had brought Bibles, blankets, snackfood, and water. There were port-o-potties on the Mall.

The tent was located directly across from the west steps of the U.S. Capitol, a beautiful sight! A young woman sounded the shofar, which is, among other things, a call to assembly. Under the tent, as Christian bands played, there were more than 100 people praising the Lord, some young and some old and some children, either standing up or sitting down. Many carried Bibles, some laid on folding chairs, all looking tattered and worn and well-read. Many youth and some older adults danced madly, as King David did, before the Lord, and some paced the grounds as if marking territory, but obviously praying as the music played. When the band stopped, people were lined up to pray for the nation, our government leaders from the President and his Cabinet, to the Administration, members of Congress, and the U.S. Supreme Court. This was the pattern throughout the day and night.

These youth cried out to the Lord for repentance on behalf of our nation; they called for revival to sweep every nook and cranny of this nation; they prayed to bless our elected representatives, and that God would open their eyes, that there truly would be change that the Lord desires in this nation, that we would work to put prayer back in school, that we would speak openly God’s Truth on abortion and homosexuality, while steadfastly seeking to help and heal those broken by these sins; they prayed against the accuser of the brethren and asked God to do a new thing in the heavenlies so that people would know that the Lord God of Israel lives and acts on behalf of his saints.

They asked for healing of the nation and its families; to heal the children of the baby boomers who grew up without much discipline or supervision or no spiritual training, for them to accept the spirit of adoption that is offered when we come to Abba Father. They declared that the fathers would take their rightful place as head of the family, and for a return to righteousness and godly living; they prayed for restoration of marriages and for the defense of marriage between one man and one woman. They asked for the Power to remain strong and courageous in all of their witness. They prayed standing up, on their knees, and on their faces. They easily quoted scripture from memory that was threaded throughout their prayers. The bands offered the sacrifice of praise, as they sang and played their instruments and worshipped, and they also boldly declared the Word of the Lord.

We interceded for our elected officials and all businesses and residents of the nation’s capital. We prayed for each other and laid hands on one another for healings as evidence of God’s sweet presence among us; and there were several healings and deliverances at that time.

Near the end of the service, several people gave their testimony. Like all true conversions, these people, men and women, leading lives completely saturated and stained by sin were miraculously saved and set totally free and living a sanctified life for Jesus. I never tire of hearing the stories of salvation!

I felt like I was an eyewitness to what heaven will be like—there was lots of activity, but it was most orderly—almost everyone, except the smallest children, were praying, praising, and exalting the Lord Jesus Christ. It was heavenly, and I didn’t want to leave. I left as the last chairs were stacked, and the sound system was being secured for the night. I thanked and praised the Lord for encouraging me to be a part of the Fulfillment Fest Freedom Tour.
